The Nigeria Police Force has disowned a purported press release claiming that the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, had directed the commencement of training for 50,000 newly recruited police constables.
The Force described the document, which is currently circulating and bears the name and designation of the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, as false and unauthorised.
In a statement, the Police urged members of the public, particularly candidates participating in the ongoing police recruitment process, to disregard the contents of the purported release.
The Force advised recruitment candidates and the general public to rely only on information published through the official police recruitment portal and verified communication channels of the Nigeria Police Force.
The Police further disclosed that efforts were underway to identify and apprehend those responsible for generating and circulating the fake document.
It warned that appropriate legal action would be taken against anyone found culpable.
