The Amanyanabo of Grand Bonny Kingdom, His Majesty King Edward Asimini William Dappa Pepple III, has commended Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, for restoring the glory of Bonny National Grammar School, describing the project as a landmark investment in education and the future of the kingdom.
The monarch gave the commendation on Friday during the inauguration of the comprehensively remodelled, furnished and equipped school in Bonny.
King Pepple said the intervention went beyond the renovation of classrooms, describing it as the restoration of a historic institution that had shaped generations of Bonny sons and daughters.
He praised Fubara for demonstrating a strong commitment to education and human capital development, noting that Bonny National Grammar School had remained a symbol of academic excellence, discipline and character formation.
According to him, the institution, established in 1965, has produced professionals and leaders who have distinguished themselves in various fields.

Speaking at the inauguration, Governor Fubara said the completion of the project had ended more than two decades without the commissioning of any major government project in Bonny.
He described the intervention as a deliberate effort to restore the dignity of one of Rivers State’s oldest secondary schools and provide students with a conducive environment for learning.
Fubara said the presence of Nigeria LNG Limited and other industries in Bonny made it imperative for government to strengthen education and equip young people with the skills required to take advantage of emerging economic opportunities.
The governor also announced scholarships for Rivers State students who emerged winners in the recent Presidential Debate competition, directing the Ministry of Education to immediately commence the process for the awards.
The Commissioner for Education, Dr Peter Nwagor, commended Fubara for prioritising the education sector, saying the remodelled school demonstrated the administration’s commitment to providing safe, modern and functional learning facilities across the state.
Nwagor said the project included six classroom blocks, modern Chemistry, Physics and Biology laboratories, workshops, hostel accommodation, staff quarters, a sick bay and other supporting infrastructure to enhance teaching and learning.
