Two suspects from a six-man kidnap gang have confessed to their roles in the abduction of a Port Harcourt resident, Mr Hassan as police close in on the four other members of the gang.
The two kidnappers, Victor Ifeanyi, 24 years alias Big Boby and Aniekan Okon Michael, 36 alias Duff Man were arrested by the police Special Crime Investigations Unit of the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU-AKU).
According to the police Public Relations Officer, ASP Agabe Kaborlo on Monday, the victim was abducted on 6 September, 2026 at Fidelity Bank, Garrison, Port Harcourt.
The resident was taken to Igbugulu Waterside, Borikiri where he was detained for three days before being released on payment of N10.3 million ransom by his relatives.
The police stated that they received credible intelligence on the incident on September 7 and swung into action as a result.
According to the police, initial investigations revealed that the two kidnappers confessed their roles in the abduction and identified that they were six in the first place.
The kidnapper also told police that they drove a white mini bus, commonly called Keke bus in an operation that saw the abduction occur.
While police continued efforts to track down the other four members of the gang, the authorities urged residents to provide credible information that will help police identify and apprehend criminal elements in Rivers State who are operating in the state with the call lines given below.
In his speech, the police said Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Command (CP) Olugbenga Adewole Adepoju asked residents to give them any information that can lead to the arrest of criminals in Rivers State.
Adepoju assured that any information given to the police will be treated with the utmost confidentiality.

He asked residents to remain calm and avoid panicking as the police vowed to use intelligence information to root out kidnappers and other criminal networks in Rivers State and urged them to cooperate with the security agencies.
